2. Download installation package to computer (remember where you place the downloaded installation package file).
3. Close all processes.
4. Double click on the downloaded installation package file.
5. Follow installation instructions.
6. Restart your computer if needed.

Connect the phone via IR.

Start the Dial-Up Networking (DUN) wizard from the Shortcut on the desktop or Start/Programs/Ericsson. To use the DUN Wizard on XP you have to update the standard modem installed by default and instead install the correct modem.

If you are having trouble with connecting your phone via IR please try the solution below:

The modem that gets installed if placing the phone at the IR eye is a standard IR modem (this is a known Microsoft problem). To be able to use your phone as a modem perform the following steps:

1. Download the Sony Ericsson Modem Scripts file intended for your phone to your PC. Remember where you place the file.
2. Open ‘Phone and Modem Options’ in the Control Panel.
3. Check on what COM port the standard IR modem has been placed (this is the COM port that the Phone’s IR modem should be connected to).
4. Mark the Standard IR modem.
5. Click ‘Properties’, Click ‘Driver’, and ‘Update Driver’.
6. Choose ‘Install from a specific location’, Click Next.
7. Choose ‘Don’t search I will choose driver to install’.
8. Click ‘Have Disk’.
9. Point towards the Phone’s IR modem script. Click Next.
10. Click continue anyway when the installation warning is displayed, the modem drivers are fully tested. Digital signatures for these modems are not available at present.

(If you want to use the Phone Monitor part of the SW only, then connection via cable or IR is possible.)
